Brighton & Hove Albion have set their sights on Hertha BSC youngster Ibrahim Maza, according to Wednesday’s Bild.
The 18-year-old climbed through the ranks of the club’s academy and was promoted to the senior team last season.
Maza was forced to miss the first half of this season due to injuries. Since regaining full fitness, he’s clocked in 244 minutes from six games, scoring a goal in the process.
Although the attacking midfielder has made just a handful of appearances for the second division German club, he seems to have caught the Seagulls’ attention. It’s claimed the player is ‘on the list’ at Brighton.
Hertha BSC were relegated from the Bundesliga last season and Werder Bremen tried to take advantage of that and snatch the Germany U18 international in the summer. However, they were able to retain him, and he’s on a contract lasting until 2026.
After last weekend’s clash against Schalke, the young prospect refused to commit his long-term future to Hertha BSC.
“Unfortunately, I can’t say that yet. I’m still thinking about it with my family,” he said.
Bild claim this is because VfB Stuttgart and Brighton have sent representatives to watch him in action.
