Jürgen Klopp and his men have travelled to Belgium as Liverpool take on Genk in the Champions League group stage tie on Wednesday.
The clash will also see Reds striker Divock Origi face his former club.
Origi’s father also played for the Jupiler Pro League side in the past. Het Nieuwsblad has interviewed the forward, and he revealed receiving a message from his father just minutes after the group stage draw was confirmed.
Het Nieuwsblad asked Origi if there is a chance for him to return to Genk.
Responding to that, he said, “I’ve received that question many times, you never know. Genk is my favourite club in Belgium and my father has played there. But a return is far from on the agenda.”
Origi admitted Klopp asked him about Genk after it was confirmed Liverpool would be in the same group.
“Yes [Klopp knows I played at Genk], because when the Champions League draw was held, we were on the training ground,” Origi explained.
“The names of our opponents were confirmed and the coach immediately asked me some questions about Genk.”
