Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rúben Neves and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans are among the midfielders linked with a move to Barcelona.
The Wolves star is represented by Jorge Mendes and the latter has good ties with the La Liga side’s president, Joan Laporta. On Thursday, reports from Spain explained the agent constantly offers his client to the Catalan club.
Tielemans, on the other hand, is looked at the Blaugrana because of the duration left on his contract at Leicester. His deal runs down at the end of this season.
Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi is the preferred target for Xavi Hernández. This is again highlighted by Sport, who say the Spanish giants are looking to sign one midfielder in the winter market and another next summer.
Zubimendi is the ‘closest’ to Sergio Busquets. He has a €60m release clause and La Real are unlikely to offer a discount.
This has seen Barca handle ‘other names’ and it includes Neves and the Leicester player.
Sport state the latter’s name is ‘under control’ at the Camp Nou as Xavi’s side continue to follow Brendan Rodgers’ man.
With regards to the Portugal international, it’s claimed the Wolves man is a ‘serious option’ for Barcelona.
Xavi may have to be convinced over signing Neves, though, since the manager views the Wolves star as a central midfielder and not one to sit in front of the defence.
