Earlier today, Portuguese outlet O Jogo reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers were selling Daniel Podence to Al-Duhail. It was said the deal was done for around €6m.

When covering the story, we pointed out that the winger would be making the same move as Philippe Coutinho, who’s reportedly leaving Aston Villa for the Qatari side as well.

It turns out that according to an update from journalist Pedro Sepulveda, those transfers are actually conflicting.

His update says that with Coutinho joining Al-Duhail, the door has now closed for Podence.

That means that the Portuguese winger now only has two options this summer. That’s either a move to Saudi Arabia or staying at Wolves.

Sepulveda had already reported today that Podence was never offered to Sporting, despite claims, and was ‘close’ to joining Sevilla, while Real Betis also got interested.

It seems none of the Spanish clubs moved in time, though, and with a few hours until the end of the transfer window, only a Saudi club could take him away from Wolves.

Otherwise, he should stay at Molineux, where he doesn’t have any minutes played this season.
