On June 30th, we covered claims from France that Caen are interested in signing Prince Oniangue.
The Wolves owned midfielder went on loan for the second half of last season to Angers in Ligue 1 and there have been several rumours about him leaving the Premier League club to go back to French football this summer.
Gilles Sergent, who is the French club’s president, had told reporters that Oniangue is a target, and it was claimed the Normandy club wanted a deal done so the player could start preseason training when Caen return.
That’s tomorrow, so the target has been missed, but today’s edition of Ouest France insists the Wolves player remains a target for Caen.
Nothing else is added, with the regional newspaper seemingly just reminding their Caen supporting readers that the transfer hasn’t been forgotten about even if the plan to have Oniangue for the first day of preseason has failed.
The 29 year old midfielder has a contract with Wolves until June 2020, but it doesn’t look like he has a future with the club and therefore a permanent exit would make sense.
