Real Zaragoza are interested in taking Rafa Mir on a season-long loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last weekend, El Periódico de Aragón reported the forward’s wages made it complicated for the La Liga 2 side to have him represent them in the 2019/20 season.
It was not explained what the 22-year-old or Wolves were demanding from the second division Spanish side, as he earns €1m on his current contract.
The same outlet explained on June 25th that Wolves are asking Zaragoza to pay €500,000, which seemed unaffordable.
El Periodico de Aragon now states Zaragoza have ruled out the option of signing Álex Alegría, who is available on a free transfer as the deal would also be ‘unaffordable’ for them due to his economic terms.
Therefore, Mir is the ‘main option’ for them today.
Despite Wolves’ demands making the operation difficult for Zaragoza, they believe signing the player is more feasible than landing either Alegría or Swansea’s Borja Bastón.
Baston, who is keen on leaving the Welsh club, has a salary of €2m net per year and his priority is to play in a top flight.
