Even last week, we covered reports from the Portuguese press which claimed that Pelé to Wolves was a done deal.
Newspaper A Bola talked about the Rio Ave midfielder as ‘transferred’, and didn’t leave any doubt about what the player’s future would be.
However, part of the local media still don’t believe things are done. They actually consider Pelé’s future to be pretty much open.
Today, newspaper O Jogo has a story about the player, claiming that SC Braga have picked him as a target for the summer transfer window.
The story makes it clear that it won’t be easy for Braga to sign the 26-year-old, not only because of the price Rio Ave are demanding, but also due to Wolves’ interest.
O Jogo doesn’t say what this price is, so we must go back to the old reports and guess it should be of around €10m.
So if Braga still didn’t have a negative answer when asking about Pelé, maybe his transfer to Wolves isn’t done at all. This competition could also end up increasing his price.
Pelé to Wolves certainly isn’t baseless. In the summer 2016 window he was one of four players the Portuguese media said would be moving to Wolves, three did… and then Pelé got injured.
He’s spoken himself about the possible move recently, and this could be all down to timing, or Wolves looking at other targets and keeping the Rio Ave midfielder as a back-up.
