It sounds like Wolverhampton Wanderers should this summer have a golden chance to sign a target they’ve been following for a long time.

We’re talking about João Palhinha, and interest from Wolves has now been reported for two years. He could end up being a bargain option in the next transfer window.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã today writes that Sporting are willing to negotiate the midfielder’s exit this summer, as it’s been a while since they put him on ‘top of the list’ of players who they could cash in from.

Even though the Lions were expected to demand at least €40m for his transfer, Palhinha’s form hasn’t been great recently. That’s why it now ‘seems impossible’ they can make that much from him.

Palhinha struggled with injuries and suspensions this season, which led to him being forgotten by the national team as well. All those factors should influence his price, and Sporting are now set to drop the demands to €30m.

The last time we saw Wolves being linked to Palhinha was just a couple of days ago. At the time, it was said the Molineux side are still ‘attentive’ to the midfielder, as they may need someone to replace Ruben Neves or João Moutinho this summer.
