On Wednesday, Foot Mercato reported Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to agreeing a deal with OGC Nice for the transfer of Mario Lemina.

It was also stated the final details of the deal need to be worked out, without mentioning what those details are.

L’Equipe explain Wolves and the Ligue1 side have ‘almost agreed’ the 29-year-old’s sale and also detail what’s needed for deal to take shape.

The ex-Southampton man, who has a contract until 2024, was happy at Nice and the two parties didn’t consider parting ways in January. However, lack of progress made in the renewal negotiations saw both parties look at the opportunity to seize Wolves’ offer.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have been pushing to sign the Gabon international for several days and are now ‘almost in agreement’ with Nice for a deal around €10m. Lemina also has a contract waiting for him at Molineux.

‘All that is missing’ for Lemina to seal a move to Wolves is the ‘validation’ from the French club’s board. A meeting is scheduled on Thursday morning to discuss this subject and a decision on whether or not to sell the player will be made during this ‘decisive meeting’.

Lemina came off the bench in Nice’s a 6-1 win over Montpellier on Wednesday.
