With the season coming to an end, Aston Villa are already planning for next season.
The Birmingham side are set to be in Europe again and will be looking to improve their squad. Whilst Monchi will take the lead with that, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is already at work himself.
AS in Spain report Emery was present in the stands to watch Valencia take on Athletic Club yesterday and was keeping a close eye on Enzo Barrenechea, who has impressed during his loan stint at Los Che.
The report states Emery himself witnessed the appreciation the midfielder has gained at Valencia, whose fans chanted for him to stay at the club beyond this season.
Aston Villa, it is reported, are yet to decide their plan for Barrenechea. At the same time, Marca believe that the Argentine wasn’t Emery’s only target for the visit.
They claim that defender Christian Mosquera is also on Monchi’s shortlist for the summer and the Spanish manager will have wanted to watch the centre-back.
The South American is likely to leave Valencia in the summer and Aston Villa are exploring the opportunity to land him.
