Ionuț Radu has been on loan at US Cremonese, AJ Auxerre and AFC Bournemouth in the past two seasons.

The Cherries took the goalkeeper on loan from Inter Milan in July 2023, with an option to buy.

Radu’s agent Federico Pastorello has been speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio about his client, including his time at Bournemouth.

The 27-year-old was limited to 450 minutes of action from five matches for the Premier League club. He wanted to cut short his stay at Bournemouth in the winter 2024 market but was disappointed over his failure to do so.

Last summer, the Romania international returned to Inter, who then sold him to Venezia in the winter window. Since joining the Serie B club, the stopper has kept three clean sheets and conceded four goals from six games.

The representative has explained why his client struggled outside Italy at Auxerre and Bournemouth.

“After the experience in France, he probably would have done better to look for continuity. Then I don’t know if an opportunity of this kind came or not,” he said.

“Being the second goalkeeper at Inter is different than doing it at Bournemouth, with all due respect to the club of course. But if you are young and coming out of a difficult period, the cure is to play.”

Andoni Iraola had favoured Neto ahead of Radu at Bournemouth last season. Pastorello remains confident the former Bournemouth goalkeeper will be playing in the Champions League in the near future.
