Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has told the Italian media he doesn’t think about returning to the Premier League side. The Dutchman joined Lyon in the last transfer window, but Manchester United have a first preference clause.
Speaking to TMW, Depay was asked if he ever thinks about Manchester United, and a return to the club: “No, to be honest. It’s not in my thoughts, I’m very focused on Lyon, and I’m very happy about my choice, and I don’t think of anything else other than to do the best for this team.”
Depay signed for Manchester United from PSV, but struggled to make a real impact during his time in England. Brought in by former manager Louis van Gaal much was expected of the Netherlands international when he joined the club in 2015.
However, Depay lasted just 18 months at Old Trafford, and found his chances even more limited when Jose Mourinho took over.
The 23 year old has since rebuilt his career in France, putting in some impressive performances for Lyon last season. Since arriving at the Ligue 1 side in January, Depay has played 18 times, scoring 5 goals.
