VfB Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy is likely to end up at Newcastle United, having already turned down a move to the Eredivisie.
That’s according to De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij, who believes the striker will end up at St James Park or at least in the Premier League.
Guirassy has been the breakout star in European football this season, with a superb return of 16 goals and two assists in 11 games in all competitions so far.
That record makes him the second top goal scorer in the Bundesliga behind Harry Kane, who is sat on 18 goals to date, and clear ahead of the likes of Lois Openda and Jonas Wind, who both sit on nine goals.
They’re numbers that haven’t gone unnoticed and it’s believed there are several clubs eyeing up a move, particularly as he is available on the cheap in January thanks to a release clause in his contract.
Newcastle have been brought into the mix in recent weeks as they look to bolster their squad and forward line, which has been beset by injuries since the beginning of the campaign.
Whether they do move remains to be seen but Verweij thinks it is likely the player will end up in the Premier League, given he already turned down a move to the Eredivisie.
“Certainly, he was too expensive,” he said on Ajax’s efforts to get him in the summer.
“That boy did not want to take a step to the Eredivisie. He had set his sights on the Premier League, and he will probably make that step,” MSN report him adding on Newcastle’s interest in him.
