Three days ago, Bild stated Newcastle United are ready to challenge AC Milan in the chase for VfB Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy. It was also said the Magpies could help the striker fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old has starred for the Bundesliga side this season, managing 16 goals and two assists from 11 games. This has convinced the Rossoneri to consider a move for him.
That’s according to TV Play, who say the Serie A side would have to deal with Newcastle’s ‘decisive inclusion’ in the transfer race.
Milan have struggled with form and injuries this season, which, coupled with Guirassy’s fine performances, have seen them make an approach for him in January.
It’s said Newcastle ‘risk significantly complicating’ the Italian club’s efforts to try to sign the Guinea international. TV Play further add Eddie Howe’s side would have ‘no problem’ to invest the fee needed to secure his services.
There’s no figure mentioned in the report, but Bild earlier stated that he has a €17.5m release clause valid for the winter market.
Apart from facing competition from Newcastle, Milan would have to sort out Luka Jović’s future before carrying out a potential deal for Guirassy.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß has refused to rule out a move for the frontman in January.
“In football you can never rule anything out, that’s why I won’t do it here either. I can only report what I experience. And here I experience him with full focus, just like in the summer. Balanced, calm and I think he feels really comfortable,” he told Sport1 last week.
