Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Yerson Mosquera has spent this year on loan at Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati.

The centre-back made 35 appearances, managing three goals and two assists in the process. The football season in the US has come to an end and the 22-year-old will have to return to Molineux, where his contract lasts until 2026.

ESPN journalist Julián Capera took to X, formerly Twitter, to provide a short update on the Wolves player’s future plans.

He claims the English club will now decide whether to include the centre-back in Gary O’Neil’s squad until the end of this season or send him out on loan again next month.

If it were to be the latter, the journalist claims Wolves will ‘prioritise’ sending the Colombia international out on loan to a European club.

He makes no mention of a preference either for the player or the Premier League side. A move back to MLS could also be an option.

Wolves signed Mosquera from Colombian side Atlético Nacional in the summer of 2021. An injury forced him to spend most of his debut season in England on the sidelines and he hasn’t yet made an appearance for their first team.

Back in June, the defender opened up about his struggles at Wolves and insisted that he made the right decision by joining FC Cincinnati on loan.
