‘Wild, loud, and blue… this is Glasgow Rangers’

That’s how Sporx present Steven Gerrard’s side to an Austrian audience this week, and there’s several articles in the country relating to the Ibrox side.

Rangers are set to face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday evening, and Salzburger Nachrichten are impressed with Gerrard’s approach to playing them.

Known worldwide for being an inspirational captain at Liverpool for so many years, perhaps the Austrian media thought he’d be dismissive of smaller European opponents, but that’s certainly not how Gerrard has been approaching his Rangers tenure.

The Scottish Premiership club’s boss is described as being ‘very respectful’ after the way he spoke about Rapid in Wednesday’s press conference.

Praising the team and explaining he’s watched a lot of their matches, Gerard especially picked out the attacking options that Rangers will have to face, and it’s his detail in explanation which has impressed.

Der Standard try to explain the club’s packed history to an Austrian audience: ‘The glory and the present’

It’s explained Rangers have a ‘big name and big problems’, and their start to the Scottish Premiership is not good enough, as far as Der Standard are concerned, for such a big club with a proud history.
