Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic has managed to make headlines this transfer window, after he was linked with moves to Napoli and Chelsea.
The Serbian defender was originally a transfer target for Napoli, who were looking to sign a defender before selling Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea, but it then appeared the Premier League side have also expressed interest in signing him.
Gazzetta dello Sport explained a couple of days ago that Chelsea are ‘in the front row’ to sign Maksimovic.
The 24-year-old has refused to train at the Serie A club, and that is not going to go down too well with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Everything suggests Maksimovic could be leaving this summer, but surprisingly his next destination might not be Chelsea or Napoli.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, West Ham are also interested in signing Maksimovic, and have already contacted his agents. Di Marzio says West Ham could be a ‘surprise solution’, and that Chelsea are not fully convinced by the player.
Torino are apparently annoyed with Napoli and want to sell the defender elsewhere, and it does seem West Ham have a real chance to sign him.
