West Ham United goalkeeper Adrián San Miguel, simply known as Adrian, has explained he’ll have have a discussion new manager Manuel Pellegrini as he continues to be linked with a move away from London.
The 31-year-old arrived in the English capital from Real Betis in 2013. He has one year left on his contract with his current employers and so far has not been offered a new deal. He fought with Joe Hart for a place in the starting lineup as David Moyes was in charge at the club for the majority of the season.
Adrian has spent five seasons with West Ham and the Argentine stopper stressed his past display is sufficient for him to prove his worth. The Premier League club appointed former Manchester City Pellegrini boss as their new manager earlier in May and the goalkeeper is now waiting to find out if the English outfit will retain him beyond this season.
“I have one more year left on my contract. First, I have to listen to the opinion of my team and if they trust me. There have been quite a few movements since we have been on holiday and they are refreshing the squad that perhaps is what they wanted,” Adrian told Marca.
“Now I must see Pellegrini’s opinion of me. We have to sit down and arrive at the best decision for everyone. Let’s see if they trust me and give me the opportunity to continue playing. I’ve been there for five seasons and I do not have to prove anything to anyone. At the moment they have not told me anything. “
Spanish publication AS reported Atletico Madrid have identified Adrian as one of their goalkeeping targets this summer. There are rumours of Betis’ interest re-signing their former player and the West Ham stopper insists there have always been reports of him linking with a return to Betis… he’s not wrong.
