Rafinha came up through the ranks of Barcelona’s youth system before making his way into their first team. He was sent out on loan for the first time in the 2013/14 season, when he joined Celta Vigo.
Ernesto Valverde allowed him to join Inter Milan on loan for the second time, earlier in January. The 25-year-old spent the second half of the recently concluded season at the San Siro.
As a part of the loan deal, the Nerazzurri had the option of signing the midfielder on a permanent deal for €35m. However, Inter’s financial situation has seen them decide against securing Rafinha’s services.
Rafinha has now returned to his parent club and his future at Barcelona remains unresolved. Catalan publication Sport claims the player is attracting interest from the Premier League, with West Ham believed to be keen on landing Rafinha.
A Hammers official travelled to Barcelona and has asked for Rafinha. Sport, in their report, also mentions the English club are interested in the “conditions to sign” the midfielder.
Inter are still in the race for the Brazil international’s signature and will open discussions with Barcelona next week. Rafinha wants to wait and see how the negotiation “evolves” between his current employers and the Serie A outfit.
Despite attracting interest from West Ham and Inter, Rafinha is in no hurry to take a decision on his future.
