Towards the end of the winter market and even on the deadline day, West Ham United were credited with an interest in Marseille’s Duje Ćaleta-Car.
Last weekend, TuttoMercatoWeb stated the Hammers’ talks with the Ligue 1 side for the 25-year-old has ‘accelerated’ and the player ‘would love a move’ to England.
On Monday, we covered claims made by L’Equipe that explained the conditions proposed by David Moyes’ side has ‘not yet satisfied’ the French club’s president, Pablo Longoria.
It was also stated Longoria had set a goal of making at least one big sale and the centre-back was among the preferred choice to make cash. A deal didn’t take shape and Ćaleta-Car will continue with his current employer, at least until the end of the season.
RMC Sport provides us the background on this case and state Marseille have ‘not received an offer deemed sufficiently interesting’ for the Croatia international.
Regarding the Premier League side, it’s claimed ‘only a loan offer’ arrived from West Ham. While the proposal from Moyes’ side didn’t end up convincing Marseille, Ćaleta-Car, for his part, is ‘delighted to stay’ at the club.
These claims come less than 24 hours after Sport Witness reported there was ‘no chance’ for Ćaleta-Car to leave Marseille for West Ham on the last day of the January window.
