West Ham United are edging closer to a deal for Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car after an ‘acceleration’ in the negotiations.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say that talks between the two clubs appear to be reaching a positive conclusion.

We covered a report yesterday that stated West Ham had returned to the charge for the defender, while earlier today, reports in France stated that agents were trying to make a move to the London Stadium happen.

It seems their efforts have not been in vain, with TMW now reporting that Caleta-Car ‘could leave’ before the end of the window.

They report that there has been an ‘acceleration’ in the talks between West Ham and Marseille that has left the defender ‘closer’ to David Moyes side.

There is no mention of transfer fees or what the deal involves, but they do say that Caleta-Car ‘would love a move’ to the Premier League.

That has presumably helped in negotiations with the Hammers, who are now ‘hoping’ to get a deal over the line, although it is made clear that ‘time is running out’ for that to happen.
