It’s been nearly four months since anything of note has surfaced regarding a potential Duje Caleta-Car transfer from Marseille to the Premier League.
The last club to be interested in the Croatian were Liverpool, who came close to signing him in January during their panic hunt for a centre-back, with West Ham trying their luck prior to that.
It’s the Hammers who are back in the chase now, as La Provence explain the London side are ‘keeping an eye’ on the defender, who could be one of the sacrificial lambs in the south of France this summer alongside Boubacar Kamara.
West Ham could even ‘come back and try again soon’, as they look to give David Moyes some more defensive reinforcements to build on their surprisingly good season during the 2020-21 campaign.
The feeling coming out of the French press had always been that Caleta-Car, who turned down a move to London Stadium last year to play the Champions League with Marseille, could leave ‘in case of a satisfying offer’, but that hasn’t arrived yet.
Perhaps West Ham will be the ones this year as well.
