A couple of weeks ago, Spanish outlet El Desmarque revealed West Ham United’s interest in signing the Sevilla defender Sergi Gomez.

It was claimed the player had a few offers to leave the La Liga side in the summer, but his choice was to stay at the club.

But things haven’t been great for Gomez at Sevilla, since he’s still to play a single minute for them this season. And that’s why the rumours about his future show up again.

El Desmarque writes today that he’s become the manager’s fourth option, and his future should be discussed in January.

Now comes the strange part. They say it was the player’s ‘real desire’ to move to the Premier League in the last summer window, and then mention West Ham’s interest as one of the possibilities.

This is the same outlet who first reported that Gómez didn’t want to move, and that’s a contradiction which means a lot.

Would West Ham still be interested in a January move? Because it sounds like a new and good opportunity…
