While West Ham United’s lack of Sébastien Haller’s replacement in January has been somewhat quelled by Jesse Lingard’s good performances, there will come a point when the Hammers will need to, once again, splash the cash on a striker.
Names are already circulating, as they were all throughout the last transfer window, with players such as Sasa Kalajdzic or even Dusan Vlahovic being mentioned.
The latter of the two won’t be easy to get, however, for two reasons: firstly, Fiorentina aren’t interested in selling, and secondly, even if they do, there is a lot of competition.
That’s according to La Repubblica, who report there are ‘important clubs’ already after the young Serbian, such as Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham and, of course, West Ham.
Such a list is scary for the Serie A side, which is why ‘the next objective is to renew him as quickly as possible’, with his current deal running out in 2023.
Talks to that end are already underway, but they haven’t ‘reached the hot phase’, and it’s made very clear by the newspaper that Fiorentina ‘cannot allow themselves to lose such a strong forward, who can represent a great future’.
THere’s no mention of a price, but with two years left on his contract and a growing reputation, previous reports suggest a fee of around €40m would be needed, at the very least.
