Earlier in June, West Ham United appointed Mario Husillos as their new director of football and he arrived at the club from Malaga.

Manuel Pellegrini and the Hammers chief’s past connection with the Spanish club saw them allow Sead Haksabanovic join the latter on a season-long loan deal.

Husillos gave an interview to Caden SER and El Desmarque have relayed those comments, and he explains he’s following the 19-year-old’s progress in the second division of the Spanish football.

The English club’s sporting director also hinted that his side will not allow Haksabanovic to continue at Malaga, if he does not feature regularly for them.

“He is a player with a great future, but the idea of ​​going to Malaga is to play and be important,” Husillos said.

“If he does not play, we will obviously have to find a solution. It is not good for us that a guy with that potential is not playing.”

The Montenegrin attacking midfielder has struggled for minutes and has made only two substitute appearance for Juan Muniz’s side.

Malaga were relegated from La Liga last season after they finished at the bottom of the league table. During the course of the interview, Husillos was asked the reason behind his decision to leave his former club.

He said: “Being in the Premier League and at West Ham answers that question, it was very special, I talked to the people of the club and an agreement was reached. Rejecting that was not worth it…”
