Tottenham and Arsenal are so often linked to the same players that it’s likely such rumours see fans roll their eyes and move on to the next one, and there’s an element of that for us too.

Whilst it’s quite possible that both London clubs would be interested in the same players, the ‘North London Battle’ idea is pushed out so often that it’s somewhat lost any excitement and now has the reverse effect.

Bild report that Spurs and the Gunners are both ‘hunting’ Florian Grillitsch.

First, what is a Florian Grillitsch?

Well, the 23 Austrian plays for Hoffenheim as a central midfielder. He’s a regular for them, and having joined from Werder Bremen in January 2017, he has a contract lasting until June 2021.

Grillitsch hasn’t had a renewal since the move.

He played reasonably well against Manchester City in the 2-1 defeat this week, and Bild are perhaps making more of that performance than is necessary: ‘On the island, they have become much more aware of the midfielder.’

The German newspaper then add: ‘BILD knows: Arsenal London and Tottenham have the Austria international on the list. Grillitsch consultant Thomas Böhm already traveled to England last week. To make first calls?’

Böhm himself is quoted as saying: “The fact that Flo is in the focus of top clubs with his strong performances, is no big secret. But he feels comfortable in Hoffenheim and still has goals with the TSG. Everything else will be seen.”

That’ll be a new contract then?
