Having been linked with Matteo Darmian for the few months or so to no avail, it isn’t surprising to see AS Roma move onto new targets to replace Emerson Palmieri at left-back, and one of the names on Monchi’s list is West Ham’s Arthur Masuaku, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Hammers’ left-back has been highlighted as a potential January recruit by the Spanish director of football as an alternative for Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal.
Said to be highly rated by Monchi, Masuaku would, however, cost the Serie A side a pretty penny by their standards, with the Italian website reckoning West Ham value the DR Congo left-back at around €20m.
Furthermore, we find it hard to believe David Moyes would agree to let the 24-year-old go considering how often he’s used him at London Stadium since taking over from Slaven Bilic.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, as there’s every chance the West Ham left-back is just a name plucked out of thin air, perhaps to try and speed things along on the Aleix Vidal negotiations.
