West Ham United are one of several clubs interested in Boca Juniors youngster Agustín Almendra.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the Hammers are ‘looking’ at the 20-year-old midfielder.
The centre of midfield is something of a problem area for West Ham, with David Moyes identifying as much in the January transfer window.
He signed Tomáš Souček on loan from Slavia Prague to try and help fix the issue, and it is likely to be an area he will look to improve once again come the summer.
They report performances have earned rave reviews, particularly from Daniele de Rossi and that has attracted interest from the likes of West Ham and Roma.
According to their information, Almendra’s price tag, which isn’t mentioned, has ‘gone down’ in recent months as he hasn’t been playing regularly and wants to leave the club.
That could give West Ham an edge if they do decide to make a move, although they are likely to face competition for his signature by all accounts.
Indeed, there could be competitors in the Premier League, with Manchester United reported to have the Argentine on a list of players to watch as well.
