There’s been some progress made in the West Ham and Marseille negotiations regarding a Dimitri Payet transfer.
Well, kind of.
L’Equipe on Monday afternoon report that a meeting did indeed take place between the two clubs on Monday morning, and some of the details have filtered.
The French website claim West Ham showed some inclination towards selling their star, although no new offer was made by Marseille, who unsettled Payet in the first place by making a €22m + €3m offer last week.
There is an expectation from L’Equipe that the Ligue 1 side will make a new bid in the coming days, even in the next few hours, for their former player.
L’Equipe state that if West Ham feel the offer is acceptable, the transfer shouldn’t take too long to complete considering Payet has already agreed terms to return to Marseille.
The 29-year-old, prior to being frozen out, had scored three goals and picked up eight assists in 22 games for the Hammers this season.
