It’s never been a secret that West Bromwich Albion would like to keep Filip Krovinović at the club for the 2020-21 season.
The midfielder made 43 appearances for the Baggies during his loan spell from Benfica, and both the Portuguese and the English press had several reports about Slaven Bilić’s wish to sign him permanently.
But things don’t seem to be moving so fast for that to happen, as newspaper O Jogo brings an update on the situation today.
They report that Krovinovic has just returned to Benfica, and even though he’s not in Jorge Jesus’ plans for the season, he’ll be joining the Eagles’ squad this week.
It’s claimed that Krovinović has ‘several’ clubs who’d like to sign him in England, and that’s where he wants to play in the future.
The problem is that West Brom, who are the only side named, aren’t willing to make a big investment in his signing.
O Jogo actually learned that the Baggies want to keep him on another loan deal.
The report doesn’t say how much Benfica are demanding from a sale, but it’s undoubtedly strange that the English side won’t invest on a player who’s already proven himself at the club.
