Manchester United will be looking for their second away win of this season when they face FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Dragons come into this tie after securing a 4-0 win over Arouca at the weekend. The Red Devils, on the other hand, suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United have an opportunity to bounce back from their Spurs loss against Porto this week. Erik ten Hag’s side have failed to win their last three games and have two wins from their last seven.
Porto’s João Mário is eager for his side to capitalise on Manchester United’s flaws to seal three points in the Europa League tie. The 24-year-old’s comments are relayed by O Jogo. He wants Porto to overcome the 3-2 loss against Bodø/Glimt, when they face the English club.
“The main objective is always the championship. We knew we had to give a strong image after that game. It’s over, it’s time to learn from mistakes and give a good response against Manchester United,” he said.
“Yes, we’ll have a more publicised game, where we’ll be facing a European giant and a very difficult team, but we have our strengths; we’ll try and exploit their weaknesses and go in to win, as always.”
Porto have won all four games at home this season, scoring 11 goals and conceding once in the process. They have lost only once at the Estádio do Dragão this year and that was against Vitória Guimarães in April.
Should Manchester United fail to match what Vitória Guimarães did and beat Porto then Ten Hag’s position will be in even more danger.
