According a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce coach Phillip Cocu wants to keep Josef de Souza at the club.
Yesterday the Brazilian midfielder was again linked with a move to Watford after claims another offer has been made by the Premier League club.
Milliyet today report on the latest developments over the future of Souza with the Turkish club, and Watford are thrown in once again.
With just under 12 months left on his contract with the Yellow Canaries it was expected he would be offloaded in this transfer window, with the Hornets one of the clubs said to be in interested signing the player.
However, last month Fenerbahce installed Cocu as their new manager and the former PSV coach has reportedly said after evaluating Souza during preseason: “He will be in my team, I need him.”
Cocu’s fondness of the South American may come as a blow to Watford, who have been linked with the player throughout this transfer window.
Earlier this summer there were claims in Turkey the Hornets had offered €9m and this weekend there have been reports they’ve come in with another bid.
Despite Cocu’s desire to keep Souza there are still suggestions in Turkey he still could be sold due to Fenerbahce’s problems with FFP, and this could be all a plan to push his price up.
