Pervis Estupiñán joined Watford in 2016 and he’s been out on loan since then.
Last summer, the Hornets allowed the left-back to join CA Osasuna on a two-year loan deal, where he has impressed with his displays.
On July 10th, La Razón reported about Manchester United, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona’s interest in the defender.
Sources from the English side informed Diario de Navarra that their intention is to include the Ecuador international in their plans for the next season, as long as they continue in the Premier League.
The newspaper explains it’ll be difficult for the La Liga side to retain the fullback beyond this term.
That’s because Watford recently sent Osasuna a ‘formal communication’ to convey their intention of recovering Estupiñán. There was a clause included in the deal, which would allow the Vicarage Road club to recall the player this summer.
Despite attracting interest from clubs like United, Atlético and Barcelona, and being linked to Tottenham Hotspur and Besiktas, Watford’s desire is to retain the South American.
According to the report, they can only bring Estupiñán to the club if they avoid relegation.
Watford are currently 17th in the table, three points ahead of 18th place AFC Bournemouth, who have played one match more than the Hornets.
