Watford fans, let’s take you back to January 2019.
At that time, your team weren’t bottom of the league, and there was some progress under Javi Gracia before everything came tumbling down.
Watford were also active on the transfer market, looking in Ligue 1 for some offensive reinforcements and working hard towards getting them.
One of the names they focused on, at least according to a number of sources, was Bordeaux’s François Kamano.
Offers were made, but they never matched the French club’s valuation of €20m, so no transfer took place.
However, it appears Watford aren’t quite done with the winger just yet, as one of their scouts was present on Sunday afternoon to watch the Ligue 1 clash between Bordeaux and Nantes, according to Girondins4Ever.
There were a number of talented players on display, but with Kamano playing, and scoring, it would make sense for them to keep an eye on one of their former targets.
After all, Watford need all the help they can get these days, currently bottom of the Premier League with five points, and while there are another 27 games to turn things around, they have yet to show any indication they can perform consistently enough to get a bunch of wins together.
Perhaps someone like Kamano could be the answer Quique Sánchez Flores is looking for, but they’ll have their work cut out to get him, as we doubt Bordeaux’s stance will be any more lenient in January 2020 than it was this year.
