Watford continue being mentioned as a likely destination for Andre Carrillo this season. Portuguese newspaper Record has a short update on the player’s situation today, saying he’s been unable to enter the United Kingdom for Benfica’s preseason camp because he’s having problems with his visa.
The same thing happened to Ljubomir Fejsa and Andrija Zivkovic, and they had to wait for the club’s authorisation to join the squad at St George’s Park. The reasons for this aren’t clear.
Anyway, Record claims that Carrillo’s permanence at Benfica is still not decided, but it doesn’t mean that he’ll be leaving for good.
They claim that Watford are still a ‘strong possibility’, with Marco Silva driving a lot of that, but he would only be joining the on a loan deal. A permanent transfer is completely ruled out by the newspaper.
Yesterday, Jornal de Notícias said Watford don’t want to pay more than €15m for the player right now, so Benfica are trusting Carrillo to have a good season in England so they can then sell him for a good price.
