On Tuesday, the Portuguese media seems pretty well informed about Andre Carrillo’s possible move to Watford.
Three different newspapers come up with their own information on the Benfica player, who is reportedly keen on signing for Marco Silva’s side.
Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias and Record all claim the deal could be done with a loan and an option to buy, as Benfica are confident the player can impress and convince Watford to pay some good money at the end of the season.
Jornal de Notícias says Watford don’t want to pay more than €15m for the player right now, so they can’t meet the Eagles’ immediate demands.
That’s the main reason why a loan is the solution to please all parties involved.
According to Diário de Notícias, there are three loan offers: two from England, with one of these being from Watford, and the other from Germany, with the club not mentioned.
But as reported by Record, there are no bids for a permanent move right now.
Record also claims that Carrillo’s agent Elio Casaretto has traveled to Portugal to sort things out.
The player wants the departure to be solved quickly, and Benfica feel the same way. They want to get rid of his salary, since he’s paid as a star but couldn’t get off the bench last season.
Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira is currently in England, as the club are having their preseason at St. George’s Park, and the newspapers believe it could be easier for him to sort things from there.
With the player’s will to join, it seems Watford just need to agree to pay his wages now.
