If you follow our coverage of all the Watford loans, you’ll be fully aware that Luis Suárez (not that one) is having a great season with Real Zaragoza in La Liga2.
The young Colombian has 16 goals and three assists in 28 league appearances this season, which hasn’t gone unnoticed, with claims the Vicarage Road club were even considering using him next season.
What also hasn’t gone unnoticed in Spain is the fact the player now has dual nationality, meaning he is eligible to play for the Spanish national team.
With that in mind, Cadena COPE, via their journalist Pedro Martin, report the player ‘wants to play the Olympic Games for Spain’, and since he’s 22, he would be able to fit in the U23 squad.
Of course, it will come down to the manager, but it shows where the player’s priorities lie going forward and the belief he has in himself if he turns his back to Colombia at international level.
We’ll also have to see when (or even if) the Olympic Games take place, as the Covid-19 outbreak around the world has led to talks of the competition being either postponed or cancelled altogether.
