Watford striker Luis Suarez is among Atlético Madrid’s Plan B options should they fail to get a deal for Barcelona’s Luis Suarez’s over the line.
That’s according to Marca, who say that the Colombian finds himself behind Edinson Cavani in the alternates list.
Barça’s Suarez is widely expected to complete a move to the Wanda Metropolitano in the coming days, with the Catalans having given the green light to let him move to their rivals and the striker already reaching an agreement over wages.
However, should the move falter for any reason they will look to their list of alternatives and chief among them is Cavani.
He is available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint Germain and was close to joining Atlético in January before a war of words between himself and the club ended any hopes of that.
Those have been forgotten by both parties, though, and his ‘big dream’ to continue his career in Spain could be realised after all.
He is one of ‘several options on the table’ for Diego Simeone and co, with Watford’s Suarez and Edin Dzeko also ‘names on the agenda’.
The Hornets striker enjoyed an extremely fruitful loan spell with Real Zaragoza last season and has been heavily linked with a move away from Watford all summer as a result.
Atlético are one of several Spanish sides to have been credited with an interest in the last few months, and Marca insist it is genuine, stating that he is part of their list of Plan B options that is currently headed by Cavani.
That would suggest he is not part of their immediate plans, nor is there any bid incoming any time soon, but it is one to keep an eye on should the potential moves for his namesake and Cavani not come to anything.
