With all the great work he has achieved at Atalanta over the years, it isn’t surprising to see that Premier League clubs are interested in Gian Piero Gasperini.
The veteran Italian manager is out of contract in June 2024, meaning there’s no urgency, but if Calcio Style are to be believed, Watford and Leicester City are eyeing him up.
While the interest from the Hornets might be a bit surprising, seeing as they appointed Slaven Bilić in September, the same cannot be said for the Foxes.
Leicester spent much of the first half of the season in the relegation zone, and while Brendan Rodgers turned things around somewhat in the weeks prior to the World Cup, it remains to be seen whether that continues in the second half of the season.
It’s clear that if the struggles continue, a change of manager will seriously be considered at the King Power Stadium, even if they finish in the bottom half of the table and escape relegation.
As for Watford, they will want to return to the Premier League, and currently sit fifth in the Championship, a good 10 points off leaders Burnley.
Bilić will need to work to rectify that, and it’s clear that to attract Gasperini, the Vicarage Road side will need to be in the top tier.
Calcio Style explain the manager doesn’t have an agent, meaning all proposals go directly to him, with both Watford and Leicester having ‘taken information’ about a possible interest.
One to shelve for now, but it could certainly become more interesting as the season goes on.
