With Crystal Palace currently 10th in the Premier League under Patrick Vieira, the Eagles are already starting to plan for next season.
One of the areas the French manager appears to want to bolster is the midfield, where RC Lens’ Cheick Doucouré seemingly at the top of his list.
The 22-year-old has been one of the stars of the show at the Ligue 1 side this season, playing incredibly regularly, scoring one goal and assisting another four in 35 appearances.
Foot Mercato are reporting Crystal Palace are one of the interested side, with Doucouré described as having a profile ‘made for the Premier League’.
Vieira, down his end, is ‘crazy about the player and has made him a summer priority’, with Strasbourg’s Jean-Ricner Bellegarde also one their are looking at.
That being said, Crystal Palace are not the only ones, with ‘big caliber English clubs also interested, which will likely increase the stakes’.
In fact, ‘there will be a need for more than €20m to take Doucouré’ from Lens in the summer, which should be affordable for the Eagles if they decide to fully go after the Mali international.
One to keep an eye on.
