Less than a month ago, Mundo Deportivo reported Barcelona are ‘interested’ in Fabián Ruiz and they intended to present a formal offer to Napoli to sign the midfielder.
Today’s edition of the same newspaper brings an update on the Spain international and it isn’t going to please those fans who were hoping to see the 23-year-old at the Camp Nou.
Even though the former Real Betis man has been on Barcelona’s agenda for some time now, Ernesto Valverde’s side have ‘cooled the movements’ to sign him.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to tie down the player to a new deal so that a high buyout clause could be included, however, Fabián isn’t agreeing to sign an extension with the Serie A side.
Despite that, the newspaper claims the Naples club are asking a fee of around €70-80m.
The economic operation is ‘unfeasible’ for Barcelona, which is why their focus has been directed towards Dinamo Zagreb’s Dani Olmo.
Olmo, who left Barcelona for Dinamo in 2014, has publicly admitted his willingness to join the Catalan club.
