The list of clubs who want former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha to be their next manager only seems to keep growing. At least in Mexico.
Caixinha was sacked by Rangers after the home draw with Kilmarnock last month, but under caretaker manager Graeme Murty the Ibrox club had a better weekend.
Goals from Kenny Miller (2) and Josh Windass gave Rangers a 3-1 away victory over Hearts, and this will give Murty’s side confidence going into Saturday’s clash with Partick Thistle.
Despite the Rangers setback, Caixinha isn’t short of interest. The manager’s agent had already revealed that there had been contact with Mexican clubs, although they are sorting out the end of his contract with Rangers before taking any decisions… something the Glasgow club dispute.
Then as El Siglo de Torreon covered the story on Tuesday, they claimed there were three possible destinations for the manager. They said that Cruz Azul, Pumas and Chivas would all want him.
But on Wednesday, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo came up with another story, this time saying that Monterrey and Pachuca should also be added to that list.
Caixinha had a positive experience at Santos Laguna between 2013 and 2015, where he won a league and a cup. So now the Rangers spell has come to an end, there’s some big expectation he could return, especially after his agent’s quotes.
O Jogo still claims that a stay in Europe isn’t ruled out, as Caixinha isn’t in a hurry for a new destination after leaving the Scottish Premiership. But with all this interest from Mexico, a return to the country sounds very possible.
If Caixinha is still so much loved somewhere else, should Rangers have been more patient with him?
