While Paris Saint Germain will be spending most of their time dealing with Neymar this summer, they’re also looking to add to the squad.
A central midfielder is their top priority, with the defensive midfield slot having been an issue for them for the past couple of seasons.
The Ligue 1 side were heavily linked with Idrissa Gana Gueye in January and it was presumed they would come looking for him again this summer.
A change in Director of Football seemed to have changed their stance, though, with Leonardo looking elsewhere for PSG’s long term replacement for Thiago Motta.
Paris United, however, say Thomas Tuchel is throwing a spanner in the works. The German boss ‘insists’ that PSG sign Gueye this summer. In fact, they claim that Tuchel is still ‘dreaming’ of signing the Senegalese midfielder because his profile fits perfectly into his system.
However, Everton are playing hardball. They wanted a big price for their man in January and that hasn’t changed. Paris United say The Toffees are now asking for €50m, which the French site aren’t impressed by.
They describe that price as ‘greedy’, an insult that was thrown at Everton back in January as well.
Everton, though, have no real need to sell. Gueye may want the move as well but the Blues are in a good position given he has a contract until 2022. Likewise, the midfielder is a key player so it’s only natural they would want a big price for him.
Unless PSG are willing to stump up the cash, and they’re not exactly cash strapped, this one won’t be happening any time soon.
