Wednesday’s edition of Marca reported Diego Costa had skipped a flight booked for him to arrive in London on Tuesday.
The Spanish newspaper even had the flight number, JJ8084, which was due to leave Sao Paulo on Monday and arrive in London the day after. Costa, once again, skipped his return to Chelsea, hiding out for a long as he can in Brazil.
Other Spanish claims suggested Costa would arrive today, spend a few days training with the development squad, issue a public apology, and then be allowed to move to Atletico.
Marca have their own take on that.
Atletico have submitted what they feel is a offer to see progress happen quickly. It’s the €60m figure, as reference repeatedly in Spain, which includes all bonuses and add-ons.
Atletico are confident, and Marca say whether it’s ‘today, tomorrow or in a few days’, the Chelsea deal is edging closer.
It’s still likely Chelsea will want some kind of apology or gesture from Costa, given his behaviour over the extended summer break.
