Not many hours ago, it seemed like Nampalys Mendy was ready to leave Leicester City and join Galatasaray on a one-year loan deal.

With the Turkish window closing tonight, the destination was seen as an escape for the 29-year-old, with claims saying he and his agent were ‘trying to find a jet’ to make the transfer possible.

However, according to the latest update from Foot Mercato, the move has collapsed.

The outlet writes that the clubs couldn’t find a way to sort things out in time, as Mendy is in Dakar with the national team and would need to be in Turkey before tonight.

Foot Mercato managed to get the confirmation from Mendy’s representative Yacine Ayad, who said the player couldn’t have his medical on time.

“With Galatasaray and Leicester, we tried everything to try to get him to Istanbul on Wednesday. But the timing was too tight and did not allow us to be able to carry out the medical examination on time,” said Ayad.

The outlet says Mendy will now ‘have to do everything to regain his place’ at Leicester City, where he hasn’t featured for a single minute this season. They confirm he’s staying at the King Power ‘at least until the next transfer window’.
