Geny Catamo has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent months, with Everton and Aston Villa likely being the strongest.

At the beginning of June, it was reported in Portugal that Aston Villa are keen on the Sporting CP winger but were unsure on paying €30m for him. There was an effort to make clear the Lisbon club didn’t want to give further discounts from that figure.

Everton were then linked and it quickly became clear how complicated the Catamo situation is. Sporting only actually own 25% of his transfer income. That’s because when they signed him from Amoura they guaranteed that club 75% of a future transfer fee.

That isn’t too unusual in Portuguese football and what usually happens is clubs such as Sporting them buy a higher percentage as time goes by. However, Amoura haven’t been deferential when Sporting have arrived to try and buy the rest.

Those talks go on and will likely need sorting out before Catamo is sold to Everton, Aston Villa or anyone else.

Sunday’s edition of Record reports Como are moving into the picture. The Serie A club have been impressive at talent identification in recent years, so it’s somewhat a seal of approval for Catamo.

Fulham and Udinese are also thought to be keen, so there’s a battle ahead once the percentage issue is sorted out.
