Even though it was Mexican newspaper Record who had a front page about Wolverhampton’s bid for Edson Alvarez yesterday, they don’t bring any developments on the story today.
The outlet continues to claim the defender is indeed moving to Europe, but this time, Wolves don’t even get a mention.
But there’s another local outlet covering this chase, which is Marca Claro. They have two stories today saying the Molineux side are well positioned in the race.
They first had an article claiming Alvarez currently has three offers from Europe. One from Wolverhampton, another from West Ham, and a third from an Italian side. They also recall that Ajax and PSV have been linked to the player as well.
Then they’ve posted a video recorded by journalist Andre Marin, claiming that Wolverhampton are ‘a very serious possibility’ for Alvarez.
The interesting thing is how he pushes for a move to the Netherlands. He says Ajax are interested, and claims he would ‘prefer’ that Alvarez goes to Amsterdam.
He’s not against Wolves. What he says is that Alvarez could develop more in the Dutch league and then make a move to the Premier League, where the demands are higher.
Record claimed that this week should be decisive for the player’s departure, so we’ll keep following all updates.
