Southampton beating Leeds United in the play-off final has changed everything for the club this summer.
Not only does being a Premier League side again mean their finances have received a huge boost, it also makes the Saints much more attractive to potential signings.
They’ll need that too, with there obviously being a determination at Southampton that they’re back in the top flight for the long term.
On that note, good transfer news arrives for the Saints from Germany, and specifically the local Bremen edition of Bild newspaper.
The 30-year-old played 30 matches last season in various midfield roles, but he’s no longer a nailed on starter and that means a move is ‘a lot more likely’ this summer.
Club official Clemens Fritz told Bild: “Nobody has approached us yet. But if something comes up that we need to talk about, we will sit down at the table.”
Southampton are said to have presented an attractive offer to the player, although there’s no indication of what Werder Bremen would want as a transfer fee.
