Back in April, Arsenal were, albeit weakly, linked with a move for Mainz’s Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
SportBild suggested the defender could switch to the Premier League this summer for a fee around €35m.
Then in May it was claimed Arsenal had offered €30m for the 23 year old the previous summer, an amount which had been refused.
Since then it’s got pretty quiet on the case, and now Wolves have been pulled fully in.
Bild, Germany’s biggest selling newspaper, report that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are ‘hunting’ the young defender. AS Monaco are also said to be going after him, and that these two clubs are being linked would clearly suggest Jorge Mendes is involved at some point along the way.
A transfer for the player now seems ‘a matter of time’, according to Bild, although they don’t suggest which destination would be likelier.
Mainz would quite like €30-40m for their player, however, nobody wants to pay that.
