It’s been a while since Tottenham Hotspur started being linked to Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam. With a contract expiring next year and the negotiations for a new deal stalled, his name is understandably a popular one in the transfer market.
And it seems there will be much more noise this summer, because as reported by Calcio Mercato today, the player has again refused an offer from the Italian side.
Ghoulam is reportedly demanding €2.5m a year, and Napoli only want to pay €2m. As the club wouldn’t let him leave for free at the end of his contract, a change looks on the cards.
Although big outlets such as Gazzetta Dello Sport said Mauricio Pochettino would want the player, there isn’t much sense in the story unless Danny Rose would leave the club, or Ghoulam prepare to be a luxury back-up.
Ghoulam is currently valued at €20m, and that’s a lot of money for Tottenham to spend on someone who would sit on the bench.
